Biography

Roberta Comunian joined the Department of Culture, Media and Creative Industries at King's College London in September 2012. Her PhD research investigated the relationship between creative industries and cultural policy within the context of public supported art institutions, focusing on Newcastle-Gateshead. She has undertaken extensive research in knowledge transfer within creative industries as an AHRC Impact Fellow and has led an AHRC research network grant that investigates the connections between Higher Education and the Creative Economy, exploring the career opportunities and patterns for creative graduates. Currently, she is researching the development of Creative Economies in Africa through an AHRC funded international research network grant. Her research interests include the dynamics of public and private investments in the arts, the role of creative cultural industries in knowledge production, and the impact of complexity theory on local and regional development of the creative economy. She is actively accepting PhD applications and has a rich portfolio of published works.
