Professor Dr. Roberto Quinlan

Biography

Roberto Quinlan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at York University. His research specialization focuses on the examination of chitinous sub-fossil remains found in midges within lake and pond sediments. This work allows for paleoecological assessments of past aquatic ecosystem changes. His interests are broad within these fields, encompassing paleoecological methods and indicators that examine how aquatic ecosystems respond to various human-induced stressors. His projects, often carried out with graduate students, explore numerous types of aquatic systems ranging from the Laurentian Great Lakes in southern Canada to remote, shallow ponds in the Canadian Arctic. Quinlan has contributed to various selected publications in the Journal of Paleolimnology, enhancing the understanding of environmental changes in these aquatic systems.
