Biography

Roberto Serrano is a Harrison S. Kravis University Professor of Economics at Brown University since 1997. He earned his Licenciado in Economics from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1987 and his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1992. Serrano has held visiting positions at prestigious institutions including the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and the Center for Rationality at Hebrew University. His research focuses on economic theory, game theory, implementation, bargaining, and social choice theory. He has authored numerous publications in leading journals and co-authored a book on welfare economics and social choice theory. In addition, he has received several research grants and fellowships, showcasing his prominence in the field. A member of the Game Theory Society’s council, he has also organized international conferences and served as an invited speaker at significant academic events. Serrano has received various awards for his contributions to economics, including the Fundacion Banco Herrero Prize, which recognizes outstanding young economists. He is actively engaged in several professional organizations and has played a pivotal role in advancing game theory through his research and teaching. Currently, he teaches multiple courses related to microeconomics and game theory at Brown University.
