Professor Dr. Roberto Verganti

Biography

Roberto Verganti is a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard Business School, where he teaches Design Theory Practice. He also holds the Josefsson Family Chair in Art Innovation at Stockholm School of Economics and directs the Center for Art Innovation. Roberto’s research is centered on the creation of meaningful innovations that people love and which serve society, with a keen focus on how leaders in organizations can generate new visions and make those visions a reality. His studies merge the disciplines of leadership, innovation, and technology. He combines extensive case analysis with experiments across various industries. Currently, he is investigating how technological transitions are reshaping creative processes, particularly in the music industry. Notable publications include 'Overcrowded: Designing Meaningful Products in a World Awash with Ideas,' published by MIT Press, and 'Design-Driven Innovation,' published by Harvard Business Press, which have received significant accolades and are translated into eight languages. Roberto has published over 150 articles in leading academic journals and has contributed to various prominent media outlets. He is also actively involved in advising senior management across a wide range of firms, providing insights into design innovation policies.
