Dr. Robin Bedford

Biography

Professor Robin Bedford holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) and a D.Phil. from Sussex. He specializes in catalysis, focusing on the development of new catalysts and novel organic reactions at the interface of organic and inorganic chemistry. His research interests include the creation of new synthetic methodologies coupled with mechanistic investigations, particularly in developing organic reactions that utilize catalytic C-H activation. His work emphasizes the use of iron in producing organometallic complexes and nanoparticulate metals as catalysts. He supervises various research projects at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Chemical Synthesis, exploring areas such as Earth-Abundant Metal Catalysis and sustainable manufacturing. His notable projects have included investigations into iron-catalysed Suzuki biaryl coupling and collaborative mechanistic approaches to paramagnetic iron catalysis.
