Biography

Robin Brewer is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan's School of Information. Her research focuses on developing and studying digital systems that support older adults (ages 65+), disabled individuals (including those who are blind, have low vision, or cognitive disabilities), and caregivers. Currently, her work emphasizes designing conversational, voice, and AI-powered technologies for expression, search, and care. Dr. Brewer co-founded the HCI, Aging (AHA!) lab, collaborating across the School of Information, Computer Science Engineering, and STAMPS School of Art and Design. She is also affiliated with the Michigan Interactive Social Computing (MISC) group, the Ethics of Social Computing (ESC), and the Digital Studies Institute. Her research has been supported by several prestigious grants, including the NSF Early CAREER Award, NIH, Google, the Department of Transportation, and the Retirement Research Foundation. Using she/her/hers pronouns, her research interests include disability studies, user experience, and human-computer interaction (HCI).
