Biography

Robin Choudhury qualified in medicine from the University of Oxford, followed by postgraduate training in London at the Royal Brompton and Hammersmith hospitals as well as the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at John Radcliffe Hospital. Choudhury's clinical practice centers on the management of coronary artery disease, with particular expertise in cardiovascular risk assessment and optimization, particularly in assessing interactions of cholesterol, diabetes, and genetic risk factors in relation to inflammation. His laboratory conducts translational science aimed at understanding the roles of innate immune cells in tissue homeostasis and injury repair, with a keen interest in hyperglycemia-induced trained immunity and the behavior of immune cells during acute myocardial infarction and myocardial regeneration versus repair.
