Biography

Robin da Silva is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He obtained his BSc and PhD in Biochemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland, focusing on amino acid metabolism and cretain biosynthesis. He worked as a post-doctoral researcher studying lipid metabolism at the University of Alberta. Before joining the University of Manitoba, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Florida, where he developed studies on the role of Adenosine receptors in immune cells. His research encompasses various aspects of metabolism, particularly the role of metabolites and signaling molecules in regulating immune cell function. He aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms involved in liver diseases including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. His lab currently emphasizes the interplay between metabolism and immune signaling to discover innovative therapeutic strategies for liver conditions.
