Dr. Robin De Graaf

Biography

Robin de Graaf is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. His teaching and research projects focus on design management for construction projects, particularly in Systems Engineering and Value Management. With an MSc in Civil Engineering & Management and a PhD in Strategic Urban Planning, Robin has developed expertise in Computer Science, Design Systems Engineering, and Application Transitions. His research emphasizes the integration of disciplines, departments, and stages throughout the design process, aiming to implement Collaborative Design Management methods, tools, and techniques within the civil engineering industry. He advocates for Collaborative Design Management as a means of ensuring that the right information is delivered to designers at the appropriate time, resulting in lower Total Costs of Ownership, faster design processes, and higher quality outcomes. His specific research interests include the application of Systems Engineering and Value Management in collaborative project delivery.
