Dr. Robin Elliott

Biography

Robin Elliott holds the Jean Chalmers Chair in Canadian Music at the University of Toronto. His expertise lies in Canadian music studies, where he has published 10 edited volumes, 30 articles, and 60 reviews. Elliott's interest in Canada’s musical legacy spans from the present day back to the 19th century. He served as the English style editor for the Encyclopedia of Music in Canada and contributed numerous articles on Canadian music and musicians to leading reference works. He has edited volumes on chamber music for the Canadian Musical Heritage Society, covering compositions from 1875 to 1945. His research on composer Istvan Anhalt resulted in co-edited books and several scholarly articles, along with invited public lectures. Elliott has also co-edited significant books on Canadian music and held the Craig Dobbin Chair in Canadian Studies at University College Dublin during the 2013–14 academic year.
