Robin Coste Lewis is a celebrated poet and author, recognized as the poet laureate of Los Angeles. Her debut poetry collection, 'Voyage of the Sable Venus,' published by Knopf in 2015, won the National Book Award for Poetry. The collection was also a finalist for multiple prestigious awards including the LA Book Prize, the Hurston-Wright Award, and the California Book Award. In 2018, the Museum of Modern Art commissioned Lewis to write a series of poems in response to Robert Rauschenberg’s drawings titled 'Thirty-Four Illustrations for Dante’s Inferno.' Her writing has been featured in numerous journals and anthologies including Time Magazine. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampshire College, a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard University Divinity School, and an MFA from New York University. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Southern California.
