Biography

Robin MacMillan has had a unique dual career as an oboist and collaborative pianist in Europe and Canada. He currently plays Principal English Horn and Oboe with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, having joined in 2006. MacMillan has soloed in various notable performances, including Copland's "Quiet City" and Sibelius' "The Swan of Tuonela", as well as in works by contemporary composers such as Groundswell. His experience also includes performances with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, and National Ballet of Canada, and he has played with many Viennese orchestras. MacMillan, a longtime resident of Vienna, has an active freelance career as an oboist and has contributed to numerous studio sessions, playing for Austrian pop singers. He is recognized as a soloist and chamber musician, performing for Austrian Radio (ORF) and in leading Viennese concert halls. MacMillan has toured Europe and the Far East with various orchestras, showcasing his versatility as a musician.
