Biography

Robin Lin Miller is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Michigan State University. She earned her PhD in Psychology from New York University in 1994, her MA in Psychology from New York University in 1988, and her BA in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in 1984. Her research program focuses on effective community-based HIV prevention services and access to HIV care, particularly for adolescent and young adult Black sexual minority males in the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean. Miller’s work emphasizes identifying structural and community-level HIV prevention programs that effectively reduce HIV-related risk behaviors and facilitate timely access to affirming sexual health care and HIV treatment. Additionally, she is interested in the processes of racial and homophobic structural stigma that restrict access to HIV-related services for young gay and bisexual males. Miller’s research explores the contextual conditions of AIDS-related community-based organizational environments that contribute to sustainable HIV prevention, HIV testing, and linkage-to-care activities. Drawing heavily from program evaluation and implementation science perspectives, her scholarly work also addresses the relationship between evaluation theory and practice, focusing on contemporary evaluation theory.
