Dr. Robin Preece

Biography

Professor Robin Preece is a leading expert in Future Power Systems, currently serving in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester. With a BEng in Electrical Electronic Engineering earned in 2009, he completed his PhD focused on Power Systems Dynamics in 2013, with his thesis published by Springer. He transitioned to a Lecturer role in July 2014 after 18 months as a Research Associate. Professor Preece's extensive consultancy experience includes collaborative projects with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs), focusing on dynamic impacts associated with new technologies and large systems integration. He has authored over 100 international publications and regularly contributes to renowned academic journals as a peer reviewer. Professor Preece has been actively involved in organizing significant conferences within the power systems community and holds memberships in several professional societies including CIGRE and IEEE PES, demonstrating his commitment to advancing research and innovation in the field. His work also addresses the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly related to energy sustainability and security, making him a pivotal figure in contemporary energy research.
