Dr. Robin Stryker

Biography

Robin Stryker is a Distinguished Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University, specializing in Sociology. She has a robust educational background, holding a BA summa cum laude from Smith College and both an MS and PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additionally, she received legal training at Yale Law School and the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. Stryker's research areas encompass Law & Society, political sociology, public policy, inequality across race, class, gender, and economy, as well as sociological theory and methods. She has published widely on regulatory law, labor law, and social behavioral science in top academic journals. Stryker has served on various editorial boards and held influential positions within the American Sociological Association. Her past roles include Research Director at the University of Arizona’s National Institute for Civil Discourse and faculty positions at the University of Minnesota and the University of Iowa. A recipient of several prestigious fellowships, including from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, Stryker’s work contributes substantially to understanding the intersection of law, politics, and society, making her a prominent figure in her field.
