Biography

Robin Wheeler has been directing the Opera Workshop at the University of Montreal since 1999, teaching the English Lyric Diction course and conducting the Opera Workshop Choir. His research interests include rethinking the relationship between text and music in Italian vocal music, focusing on prosody, rhythm, and vocal interpretation. In collaboration with co-researcher Zoey Cochran, Wheeler is involved in research projects receiving funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, under grant program PV153480, aimed at developing knowledge in the area of vocal performance. His areas of expertise include classical singing and the performance of early, classical, and contemporary music.
