Dr. Robin Wilson

Biography

Robin Fretwell Wilson holds the Mildred Van Voorhis Jones Chair at the University of Illinois College of Law, where she co-directs the Family Law Policy Program and the Epstein Health Law Policy Program. Her expertise encompasses family law, health law, biomedical ethics, law and religion, children's issues, and the interactions of law with societal violence. Wilson is a prolific author with twenty books to her credit, including works such as 'International Survey of Family Law' (2022), 'Religious Freedom, LGBT Rights, Prospects for Common Ground', and 'Contested Place of Religion in Family Law'. She has served as a consultant for the United Arab Emirates Judicial Department and has been ranked among the top family law scholars in the United States. Her research has been widely recognized and cited across multiple judicial venues, and she has contributed to significant studies on domestic relations and children's health law. Wilson's academic journey includes a tenure at Washington & Lee School of Law, and she has clerked for the Honorable E. Grady Jolly of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Her recent initiatives include directing the Fairness Initiative, which aims to create a dialogue around LGBT rights and religious freedom.
