Dr. Robyn Ilten Gee

Biography

Robyn Ilten-Gee is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, where she supervises graduate students. Her research primarily focuses on children’s moral and social development, critical social justice pedagogy, and digital media. She takes a critical approach to moral development, investigating how developmental frameworks can illuminate possibilities for critical pedagogy and moral reasoning. A particular interest is exploring digital media production, such as podcasting and multimedia journalism, within classroom settings to facilitate students' processes of rethinking and revising their judgments about the world. Dr. Ilten-Gee is also interested in culturally sustaining frameworks of social-emotional education strategies that respond to student trauma and chronic stress in educational environments.
