Dr. Rocco Servedio

Biography

Rocco Servedio is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Columbia University specializing in theoretical computer science. His primary research interests encompass computational complexity theory, computational learning theory, and property testing, with a particular focus on the role of randomness in computation. He has held significant positions as chair for the Computer Science Department at Columbia from 2018 to 2021 and has been actively involved in various professional activities, including serving as chair and co-chair for multiple prestigious program committees like STOC and COLT. Rocco has supervised numerous graduate students and teaches courses on complexity and learning theory, including 'Unconditional Lower Bounds' and 'Derandomization'. He has a robust academic background, having completed his Ph.D. and MS in Computer Science and an AB in Mathematics from Harvard University.
