Biography

Rocío De la Fuente Gonzalez is a post-doctoral research fellow specializing in GPCR-based drug discovery functional biology. Her research primarily focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in the activation and subsequent signal transduction of orphan GPCRs, which are implicated in conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and metabolic disorders. Rocío graduated from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain with a degree in Cell Biology and Genetics, further completing a Master's in Developmental Biology and Genetics from the Universitat de Barcelona. She earned her PhD in Molecular Pharmacology from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain before joining the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2017. Rocío's work contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to end poverty and protect the planet through her research in drug discovery and pharmacology.
