Biography

Rod Kiewiet is a Professor of Political Science at the California Institute of Technology. He received his B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1974 and his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1980. Kiewiet became an assistant professor at Caltech in 1979, was promoted to associate professor in 1982, and attained full professorship in 1989. His administrative roles included Dean of Students, Dean of Graduate Studies, and Dean of Undergraduate Students. He has authored four books and numerous articles, participating in several editorial boards and executive councils. His research interests encompass a broad range of topics including American Political Economic History, Public Policy, and Public Finance, employing empirical analyses to explore formal political theory. Kiewiet is currently focused on writing a book about the history of public school finance and has a sustained interest in the quantitative analysis of sports.
