Biography

Roderick Carlyle Spears is an Associate Professor at Brown University, specializing in Neurology and Migraine Research. He holds the distinction of serving as the inaugural endowed chair for the Migraine Chief and Headache Division. Dr. Spears has previously worked as the Regional Medical Director at University of Pennsylvania, focusing on headache medicine. He is a fellow of the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology, where he also completed revolutionary leadership programs to advance health care. Dr. Spears received his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. His clinical training included an internship in Internal Medicine at Akron General Medical Center followed by a neurology residency at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Furthering his expertise, he completed a fellowship in Headache and Facial Pain at the Headache Institute of St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital. Dr. Spears has been practicing headache medicine since 2004 and has contributed significantly to medical education through teaching and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
