Biography

Rodrigo Cruz is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at University College London, specifically in the School of Slavonic and East European Studies. He leads the SECURE research project, which examines the struggles of LGBTI+ movements in relation to online disinformation regulation in Brazil and Poland. Rodrigo has an academic background in Communication Media Studies from Universidade Federal do Pará and a Master's degree in Social Sciences from Universidade Federal de São Paulo, where he specialized in Political Sociology and Collective Action. His doctoral research, completed at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, focused on the emergence of right-wing and far-right LGBTI+ male activism in Brazil, receiving an honorable mention award for European dissertations. His work has been published in reputable journals such as the European Journal of Politics and Gender. He has expanded his research interests to include a comparative perspective on Eastern Europe and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Brazilianists in Europe. Rodrigo collaborates with various institutions and is a co-founder of Acervo Bajubá, a queer archive in São Paulo, aimed at preserving the memory of LGBTI+ communities and movements in Brazil.
