Dr. Roel Beetsma

Biography

Roel Beetsma is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Amsterdam and a Professor of Macroeconomics. He is a member of the European Fiscal Board and a Research Fellow at CEPR and CESifo. Beetsma has held several visiting positions, including at DELTA in Paris, the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, the University of California at Berkeley, and Copenhagen Business School. He has served as a consultant for the European Central Bank, the European Commission, and the International Monetary Fund. Beetsma chaired a Dutch government commission on the European economy and another on second-pillar pensions. His research has been published in prestigious journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Literature, and the Economic Journal, with interests focusing on budgetary policy, macroeconomics, and pensions.
