Biography

Roger Chafe is a Full Professor in the Division of Population Health Applied Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds a PhD in Medicine and an MA in Philosophy from Memorial University. Roger completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, focusing on health policy and evaluation. He has served as an executive member of the Council of Canadian Child Health Research and is on the editorial board of the journal Healthcare Policy. Roger is also a founding Director of the Janeway Pediatric Research Unit at Memorial University. His research interests include health services research, applied qualitative research, health policy, and evaluation, with significant contributions published in major journals such as Nature and The Lancet Oncology. He currently leads the People’s Health Matters Lecture Series and teaches on topics related to clinical research design and applied health sciences.
