Biography

Roger Herbert is a senior lecturer in hydrology and associate professor in biogeochemistry at Uppsala University. His research focuses on biogeochemical processes under water-saturated conditions, with specific emphasis on denitrification in bioreactors, transport in double porosity systems, and groundwater remediation. Additionally, he investigates arsenic uptake in plants and the interactions of silica nanoparticles within soil-plant-water systems. Roger is currently the project coordinator for the EIT RawMaterials project NITREM, which aims to upscale bioreactor technology for the mining and quarrying industry. He also teaches and oversees the Civil Engineering program, focusing on environmental water engineering.
