Biography

Roger R. Reese received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas in 1990 and joined Texas A&M University's History Department the same year. He specializes in Soviet social history, as well as the social history of Imperial Russia and the Soviet militaries. Dr. Reese has written seven books on the Russian and Soviet military, earning notable accolades such as the Moncado Prize from the Society for Military History for his outstanding article in military history and the Tomlinson Book Prize from the World War Historical Association for his work on the Russian Imperial Army. His current research focuses on issues that span the divide between Imperial Russian, Soviet, and contemporary Russian military history.
