Professor Dr. Roger Simnett

Biography

Roger Simnett is an Emeritus Professor in the Business School at the University of New South Wales Sydney. With a focus on accounting, auditing, and taxation, he brings over 25 years of experience in international standard setting, serving as a member of the International Auditing Assurance Standards Board during various periods. His research emphasizes improving audit and assurance quality through various innovative methodologies, contributing to leading journals such as the Accounting Review and Auditing: Journal of Practice & Theory. He received the Order of Australia in 2018 for his exemplary service in the accounting profession and was inducted into the Australian Accounting Hall of Fame in 2019. Additionally, Roger has been recognized as a Fellow of CPA Australia and the Academy of Social Sciences. He has led several research projects aimed at enhancing integrated reporting and ensuring compliance with international auditing standards. His teaching methodology focuses on integrating theoretical concepts with practical applications in auditing and governance, having developed courses and materials that address these subjects.
