Dr. Roger Sugden

Biography

Roger Sugden holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick (England) and is currently a Professor at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia (Canada), situated on the syilx Okanagan Nation territory. His previous academic appointments include positions at the Universities of Stirling (Scotland) and Birmingham (England), as well as the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (Germany). He has served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge (England) and as a Visiting Professor at the Università degli Studi di Ferrara (Italy). Professor Sugden's research interests encompass economic organization, governance, the interests of publics, and socio-economic development of territories. He employs a variety of methods, including photography and innovative inquiries, to engage and challenge the ways in which people interact with their communities.
