Dr. Roger Tsang

Biography

Dr. Tsang is a medical oncologist at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary. He obtained his MD with Special Training in Research from the University of Alberta and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology in Edmonton. Dr. Tsang undertook a Translational Oncology research fellowship at UCLA in Los Angeles, California. In 2020, he received the Evidence-Based Medicine teaching award for his contributions to the Medical Oncology residency training program. He is passionate about health informatics and the intersection of information technology, data science, and clinical medicine to enhance patient care and improve outcomes through digital innovation. From 2018 to 2025, he served as the Medical Informatics Lead for Medical Oncology in the Calgary Zone and has significantly contributed to the implementation and optimization of Alberta Health Services’ Connect Care, which utilizes Epic Systems' EHR. In 2025, he assumed the inaugural role of Program Chief Medical Information Officer for Cancer Care at Alberta Health Services. His research areas focus on Breast Cancer, Neuro-Oncology (CNS Cancers), and Informatics, including Artificial Intelligence applications. He is an active participant in local and cooperative group, industry-sponsored research studies in breast and CNS cancers and serves as a site Principal Investigator for Canadian Cancer Trials Group studies.
