Biography

Dr. Rohan Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Director at LSE IDEAS in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research focuses on how rising powers navigate power status hierarchies and influence the international order. His book, "Ascending Order: Rising Powers and the Politics of Status in International Institutions," published by Cambridge University Press, received the T.V. Paul Book Award for 2024 from the International Studies Association and has also won the Hedley Bull Prize from the European Consortium for Political Research in 2023. Dr. Mukherjee has published his research in several prestigious journals including International Affairs, Global Studies Quarterly, and Asian Security, as well as contributing to edited volumes from renowned academic presses such as Oxford and Stanford. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in Political Science at Yale-NUS College in Singapore and holds a PhD in Politics from Princeton University, an MPA in International Development from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford. Dr. Mukherjee has also held positions as a Non-resident Scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., and as a Non-resident Fellow at the National Bureau of Asian Research. His expertise centers around grand strategies of rising powers and their impact on the international security order, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
