Dr. Rohollah Moosavi

Biography

Rohollah (Raha) Moosavi is a Sessional Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University. He holds a Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) and Master’s (M.Sc.) degrees in Computer Software Engineering, as well as a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a specialization in Computer Vision. His academic career includes Postdoctoral Fellowships at McMaster University and the University of Waterloo. Since 2005, Raha has taught various Computer Science and Computer Engineering courses across different universities and has been a Limited Term Teaching Faculty member at Ontario Tech University for six years. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at Tehran Azad University in Iran for 13 years. With over 20 years of academic experience, his teaching encompasses a wide range of subjects, including Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Database Design, Big Data Systems, Operating Systems, Scientific Data Analysis, and Image Processing. Besides rigorous academic training, he also holds practical expertise from professional work in the tech industry as a Software Engineer and Team Lead. His research interests focus on Large Language Models, Big Data, and Medical Image Processing, concentrating on developing AI-driven methods for data-intensive applications, particularly in the healthcare domain. In his free time, he enjoys reading, jogging, and swimming.
