Dr. Roland Assi

Biography

Roland Assi, MD, MMS is a cardiac surgeon specializing in the treatment of thoracic aortic disease, including aortic aneurysms and dissections, as well as advanced endovascular aortic surgery, coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, and mitral valve surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Assi holds clinical roles as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Medical Director of Perfusion Services at the Heart and Vascular Center. His academic interests are primarily centered around understanding the natural history and mechanisms of thoracic aortic aneurysm dissection, and he is involved in collaborative research with vascular biologists, biomedical engineers, and computational genomic scientists. Dr. Assi is committed to using minimally invasive approaches in cardiac surgery to enhance patient outcomes and focuses on providing compassionate care during the surgical and recovery phases.
