Roland Logé is a full professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Materials Institute and the Microengineering Institute. He graduated in 1994 from Université catholique de Louvain, obtaining a degree in Materials Engineering, and subsequently earned a Master of Science in Mechanics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1995. He received his PhD in 1999 from Mines Paristech-CEMEF, specializing in metal forming and microstructure evolutions. From 1999 to 2001, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell University before joining the CNRS in France. In 2008, he was awarded the ALCAN prize by the French Academy of Sciences in collaboration with Yvan Chastel. Logé has been instrumental in establishing a research group focused on Metallurgy-Structure-Rheology within CEMEF and has served as Research Director at CNRS since 2013. He joined EPFL in March 2014, leading the Laboratory of Thermomechanical Metallurgy, where his research interests encompass microstructure design and processing of metallic alloys, employing techniques such as selective laser melting and thermomechanical treatments. He has made substantial contributions to the field and has a rich history of mentoring PhD students in the domain of materials science and engineering.
