Dr. Roland Paris

Biography

Roland Paris is a Full Professor of Public International Affairs and the Director of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) at the University of Ottawa. He is an Associate Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) and the founding director of the Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS). Professor Paris has served in advisory roles for the Canadian government as a foreign and defense policy advisor to the Prime Minister. His research interests include international security, civil conflict, peacebuilding, global governance, and Canadian foreign policy. He has published extensively in leading academic outlets and has received notable awards, including the Grawemeyer Award for Ideas Improving World Order. His teaching portfolio covers various courses related to international affairs and peace operations. He has also held previous positions as a Visiting Fellow at Sciences Po in Paris and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Additionally, he is recognized for his contributions in the media, providing regular analysis on international affairs.
