Dr. Rolf Kleber

Biography

Rolf J. Kleber, Ph.D., is an Emeritus Professor of Psychotraumatology in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University. He is also the head of research at the Arq National Psychotrauma Centre, which includes various organizations focused on trauma and psychological treatment for victims of war and collective violence. Over his career, he has held academic positions at several Dutch universities and has been a lecturer at the University of California, Irvine, in the USA. His research primarily focuses on psychotherapy outcomes for posttraumatic stress disorder, work-related trauma interventions, and the psychosocial consequences of disasters. He has supervised numerous research projects, including a large-scale mental health monitoring study following the Enschede Fireworks Disaster. Additionally, Prof. Kleber has acted as a consultant and trainer in mental health programs for humanitarian aid organizations such as Médecins sans Frontières. He has contributed significantly to the field, supervising 30 doctoral dissertations and publishing approximately 325 scientific articles and 12 books on stress, coping, trauma, and cross-cultural psychology.
