Biography

Rolf van Wegberg is an associate professor in cybercrime governance at Delft University of Technology, specifically within the Organisation & Governance section. Originally trained as a criminologist, he received his MSc degree cum laude from Leiden University, completing his thesis on money laundering in the Netherlands. Throughout this project, he examined the criminal strategies employed by cybercriminals and their outsourcing of key elements of the criminal business model, as well as the interactions between these strategies and the policies of financial service providers and law enforcement. Currently, he leads research projects related to cybercrime governance and teaches on this subject. His work has a real-world impact, fostering structural collaboration with Dutch law enforcement, which has resulted in government-funded research initiatives. Rolf also serves as an expert witness in cybercrime-related court cases and trains law enforcement and judicial professionals in various aspects of cybercrime policing.
