Roman Gregorovich Maev is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Windsor in Canada. He received his M.Sc. degree in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from the Moscow Physical Engineering Institute in 1969, and his Ph.D. in the Theory of Semiconductors from the P.N. Lebedev Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1973. In 2001, he obtained a D.Sc. degree from the Russian Academy of Sciences. His career includes serving as the Acting Chairholder of the Biomedical Physics Chair at the Moscow Physics Technical Institute starting in 1979, and in 1987, he established and became the Founding Director of the Acoustic Microscopy Centre at the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 1995, he has been involved at the University of Windsor, where he became the Chairholder of the DaimlerChrysler Industrial Research Chair in 2002. He has directed the Institute Diagnostic Imaging Research since its formation in 2008, and has facilitated significant research investment, totaling $16 million, from industrial partners and government agencies. His research encompasses theoretical fundamentals of physical acoustics, experimental research in ultrasonic nonlinear acoustical imaging, and the theory of wave propagation in layered structures. Maev has authored 13 books, published 320 articles, and holds twenty-three patents. Additionally, in 2008, he was appointed as Honorary Counsel of the Russian Federation in Canada, based in Windsor, Ontario.
