Dr. Roman Winkelhahn

Biography

Roman Winkelhahn is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Bern. His research focuses on the relationship between perceived societal appreciation and political information behavior as part of an SNSF-funded project titled 'Feeling left-behind: lack of social recognition of one’s group influences political information usage effects.' He holds an M.Sc. in Social Science Research with a specialization in Communication Media from Loughborough University in the UK and a B.A. in Journalism Studies with a minor in Economics from TU Dortmund University in Germany. Winkelhahn has gained professional experience as a trained journalist, completing a full-year editorial traineeship at the German business newspaper Handelsblatt. He also spent two semesters at Northern Arizona University in the USA, funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
