Biography

Ron Buliung is a Professor in the Department of Geography & Planning at the University of Toronto Mississauga. He holds graduate faculty appointments within the Department of Geography and Planning (St. George) and the Rehabilitation Sciences Institute. He obtained his PhD in Urban Geography from McMaster University. His research has primarily concentrated on the experiences of children and youth in urban settings. Early in his career, Ron's work focused on the journeys of school children and how these journeys impact their health. Currently, he investigates the ways in which disability and ableism are manifested and governed in urban environments, affecting how people live, work, play, and learn. His publications address various aspects of transport geography, disability studies, and social and political geography, contributing significantly to policy and planning discussions.
