Dr. Ron Cox

Biography

Ron Cox is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales, specializing in environmental engineering with a focus on coastal and water management. He serves as the national Convenor of the Australian Climate Change Adaptation Research Network for Settlements and Infrastructure (ACCARNSI), where he contributes to the advancement of sustainable practices in engineering. With extensive research experience in environmental engineering, Ron has worked with both industry and government sectors in Australia and internationally. His research interests include coastal ocean engineering, climate change impact and risk assessment, flood mitigation, river and estuarine hydraulics, and environmental impact assessments. Throughout his career, Ron has provided critical technical and policy advice to government agencies and has been involved in various aspects of water resource management, particularly pertaining to cooling systems for power stations. He has been recognized for his contributions, including receiving the prestigious Sir John Holland Award from Engineers Australia for his long-standing commitment to the field of civil engineering and the broader community.
