Biography

Ron E. Meisler, ’99, is an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School and a partner at Skadden's Chicago office. He represents companies facing financial difficulties, as well as purchasers, investors, lenders, and creditors involved with distressed entities across various stages of complex restructuring in Europe, Asia, and South America. Meisler combines expertise in UK pension law with bankruptcy law, specifically regarding defined benefit pension plans, negotiating resolutions with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation for both large and small pension plans. His advisory experience extends to executives and boards of troubled companies. Meisler has been recognized by Chambers USA as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, named the 2022 Chicago Bankruptcy Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency Reorganization Lawyer of the Year, and has received accolades from IFLR1000 and Lawdragon 500 for his contributions to global restructuring and insolvency law. In 2020, he was honored as a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and has been featured as a guest lecturer on distressed transactions and bankruptcy law at various prestigious institutions including the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and the Wharton School of Business.
