Biography

Rona Macniven is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Population Health at the University of New South Wales, with expertise in physical activity, sport, falls prevention, and Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander health public health research. Her research examines the impact of physical activity and sport on physical health, social and emotional wellbeing, particularly among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Macniven focuses on generating and partnering with stakeholders to produce high-quality evidence to improve health and wellbeing across the life-course. She leads epidemiological community evaluation research studies in collaboration with various academic institutions and community groups, including Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services. In addition to her research work, Rona has undertaken government consultancy projects and collaborates with large Australian NGOs to translate research into practice.
