Biography

Ron Abraira has worked in the field of entrepreneurship and economic development for the past twenty-two years. He served in the United States Navy and attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he achieved a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1986. Following his studies, he worked as a Business Services Officer at a community economic development agency in Kahnawake, where he focused on writing business plans for local entrepreneurs and conducting market research for community development projects. In the spring of 1990, he was named Executive Director of the Kahnawake economic development agency, where he guided the development of a capital corporation and an employment training agency designed to educate potential entrepreneurs. He later attended Concordia University, earning his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1995, with a research paper that focused on a cross-cultural study of entrepreneurship. Currently, he teaches entrepreneurship at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University and works as a management consultant, serving as a member of the Investment Committee for the Nations Venture Capital Fund in Quebec.
