Biography

Ronald L. Ariagno is a Professor Emeritus in Pediatrics – Neonatology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, following which he completed his pediatric training at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital and a neonatology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. His professional contributions include leadership roles in various pediatric organizations, notably the Executive Committee of the Section on Perinatal Pediatrics of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He chaired the Research Committee, which oversees the Marshall Klaus Perinatal Research Award for the Neonatal–Perinatal Medicine Program from 2004-2014. Ariagno has served on the FDA’s Pediatric Advisory Committee and has contributed to advancing neonatal therapeutic development through various esteemed committees and research initiatives. He is recognized for his efforts in neonatal resuscitation training and has received multiple awards for his contributions to pediatric medicine, including the Lifetime Achievement Recognition from the California Sudden Infant Death (SIDS) Advisory Council. Ariagno remains actively involved in mentoring junior faculty and contributing to international healthcare initiatives for mothers and infants.
