Biography

Ronald Garcia is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1997 and 1999, respectively, before obtaining his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University in 2008. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Rice University and was a Computing Innovations Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University. He has been a faculty member at the University of British Columbia since 2011, progressing from Assistant to Associate Professor, and then to Professor. His research interests focus on Programming Languages and Program Analysis & Verification, exploring areas such as Software Practices. He has been recognized with Faculty Teaching Awards for his dedication to teaching and mentorship. Garcia has been involved in several advanced courses related to his research field, including Programming Language Principles and Systematic Program Design.
