Dr. Ronald Goldberg

Biography

Ronald Norman Goldberg is an Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics at Duke University with extensive experience in neonatal and respiratory diseases. His research interests include neuroprotection from perinatal asphyxia using umbilical cord blood transfusion, addressing persistent pulmonary hypertension with ethyl nitrite, and improving the outcomes for extremely low-birth-weight infants. He has also focused on enhancing newborn screening through the use of digital microfluidics. Goldberg completed his medical degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a residency and fellowship at the University of Southern California. His expertise is backed by multiple significant grants supporting research on hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, pharmacokinetics of antibiotics in premature infants, and other critical neonatal health challenges. Throughout his career, he has held several important positions within Duke University and has contributed to teaching and mentoring the next generations of pediatricians and researchers.
