Ronald C. Kessler is the McNeil Family Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School. Additionally, he is involved in the Army STARRS-LS program, focusing on neurobiological research related to suicide risk among Army personnel. His work aims to evaluate innovative programs for the prevention and treatment of mental illness in high-risk populations. Kessler earned his PhD in sociology from New York University in 1975 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at the University of Wisconsin before joining the University of Michigan faculty in 1979. He took his current position at Harvard Medical School in 1994.
