Biography

Ronald K. Vogel joined the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University in August 2011 as a full Professor. Prior to this role, he served as Chair of the Department of Political Science and Professor of Political Science and Urban and Public Affairs at the University of Louisville. He has also held the position of Director of the Ph.D. program in Urban Public Affairs and currently serves as the Graduate Program Director for the interdisciplinary doctoral program in Policy Studies. Dr. Vogel received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Florida in 1986 and holds both an M.A. and B.A. in Political Science. He is an expert in urban politics and administration, with his research increasingly taking a comparative turn. Over the past decade, he has conducted research on governance in global city-regions such as Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, and Toronto. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Japan from 1997-08 and received a Canadian Government Faculty Research Grant in 2001. Additionally, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Hong Kong in 2007-08 and co-investigator for a National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates grant from 2004-07. Professor Vogel is the President of the Section on Urban Local Politics and heads the Comparative Urban Politics related group within the American Political Science Association. Dr. Vogel teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, primarily focusing on urban politics, political science, and public policy.
