Biography

Rong Huang is the Evanson-McCoy Professor in the Borch Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in Medicinal Chemistry and completed his postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University in Chemical Biology. His research focuses on drug discovery, specifically targeting methyltransferases and other epigenetic modifications. Dr. Huang's lab employs a multidisciplinary approach to elucidate the mechanisms and functions of these modifications, developing novel therapeutic agents for various diseases. He has published extensively on protein methyltransferase inhibitors and the role of epigenetics in disease. Dr. Huang is actively involved in teaching courses such as Medicinal Organic Chemistry and Basic Principles of Chemical Action in Biological Systems. He has received several awards, including the Showalter Faculty Scholar designation and University Faculty Scholar appointment, and actively participates in grant-funded research related to cancer and other metabolic diseases. Dr. Huang is committed to mentoring students and guiding them in cutting-edge research in medicinal chemistry.
